Selection

Selection criteria:

1. Cambridge regulations state that candidates must:
   1. have a standard of education that would allow entry to Higher Education in their own country;
   2. have an awareness of language and a competence in English, both written and spoken, that enables them to undertake the course;
   3. have the potential to develop the necessary skills to become effective teachers and to successfully complete the written assignments and practice teaching.
2. Candidates must be at least 20 years old by the end of the course to follow the Cambridge Certificate course. They must have a sound educational background. Most candidates will have a first degree and experience of learning languages. CELTA courses at our Centre have shown these are very important.
3. Candidates for the course are selected initially by written application and then by interview. Acceptance at either stage is not automatic. In cases of unsuccessful applications BKC-IH cannot enter into correspondence or discussion concerning the reasons for an interview or a place on the course not having been offered. The rigorous selection process is undertaken in the interest of candidates to ensure a high level of success on the course.
4. In all matters relating to the suitability of candidates for courses, the decision of the Director of Teacher Training of BKC-International House Moscow shall be final.

The selection process:

1. As the number of places on the courses is limited, applications for courses should be submitted at least two months prior to the course you wish to take.
2. Applications should be made on the form provided. The completed application form and pre-interview task should be returned to the Administrator. They should be completed fully and carefully, and you should indicate which course dates you are applying for.
3. We will acknowledge your application as soon as possible and if your written application is satisfactory we will arrange an interview for you.

Enrolment

1. If following the interview you are accepted for a course, you should pay your deposit immediately. We cannot reserve a place on a course until the deposit has been paid. Deposits cannot be refunded under any circumstances.
2. The balance of the fees must be paid at least four weeks before the start of the course. If you have not paid your fees by that date, you may lose your place.
3. In the case of cancellations made later than four weeks before the start of the course, requests for refunds can only be considered if we are able to fill the place at short notice. The deposit and Cambridge registration fees are not refundable.
4. Please note that in the event of a candidate being unable to complete the course for whatever reason, BKC-International House Moscow cannot refund fees or offer the candidate a place on a subsequent course without payment of further fees.
