I am a native English speaker and would like to teach English in Moscow - I'm looking specifically at the BKC school.

I have some experience teaching, but none teaching English as a foreign language though I have tutored some ESL students. I have BSc in Computer Science and I am looking into taking the CELTA class with BKC in the summer or fall.

With this background, what is my best bet for finding a job? What is the English teacher market like in Moscow at this time? Is it best to talk with many different schools before getting certified, wait until certified to approach schools, or some other scenario? Is this a good time to be applying or is it better to wait until winter/spring/summer/fall?

I would hate to invest $1700 in the course just to return home when finished. And speaking of the course... I see that BKC's class has a limit of 12 students. Does this make it very difficult to get into? Is there anyway to make myself more attractive?

Thank you,
-D

If you are looking into taking the CELTA course you should not worry about investment. After successfully completing the course you can easily find teaching position throughout the world, i.e., here, home, anywhere.
Moreover BKC doesn’t require a teaching experience. The school requires qualifications such as Cambridge CELTA +or Trinity TESOL.

If you are going to apply for the position at BKC School you’d better wait until certified.
First, BKC recruits throughout the year (you do not have to be in a hurry).
Second, the recruitment procedure consists of completing pre-interview task which will be sent to you after you send a copy of certificate. But if you took the course with BKC you do need neither the copy nor the task.
Third, the CELTA course covers all questions the task can include.
If you are not offered a teaching position after successfully completing the course with the school (that means you failed or simply did not apply) you still can find a job here. There is a big demand for native English teachers in Moscow. I am not sure about professional development in other language institutions here, but your salary will definitely depend on your qualifications.

Take care,
Rod
