General information
Developed at Cambridge University in the 1970s, the CELTA program is the introductory certification that is the most honored, entry-level credential in the world for teaching English as a second or foreign language; in fact, it is the qualification that many language school employers ask for by name. Admission is selective; applicants must submit and pass a pre-course assignment and be interviewed by our Director of Studies. Cambridge ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages, formerly known as The University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES)) approves all centres, courses, and tutors. ILI was the first approved Cambridge ESOL centre in North America, and has been offering Cambridge teacher training since 1985.
